Job Description
Banking Regulatory Counsel — BDO Unibank
BDO Unibank, the largest bank in the Philippines by total assets, is seeking a Banking Regulatory Counsel to join its Legal and Compliance Group in Makati City. The counsel will handle banking regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) regulations and related financial sector legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the bank on compliance with BSP Circulars, the General Banking Law (RA 8791), and the New Central Bank Act (RA 7653 as amended by RA 11211)
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments from the BSP, Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), and Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC)
- Draft regulatory submissions, compliance reports, and position papers for BSP examinations
- Advise on anti-money laundering (AMLA) and counter-terrorism financing compliance requirements
- Support product development teams on regulatory requirements for new banking products and digital banking services
- Handle consumer protection compliance under BSP Consumer Protection Framework and RA 7394

Requirements
- Member of the Philippine Bar with active IBP membership
- 4-7 years of experience in banking law, financial regulation, or in-house banking legal roles
- Expert knowledge of BSP regulations, General Banking Law, AMLA, and banking secrecy laws
- Experience with BSP examinations and regulatory filings
- J.D. or LL.B. from a recognized Philippine law school
- Strong analytical, drafting, and regulatory interpretation skills
- Experience in digital banking regulation is a plus
