Job Description

Chargé Juridique Relations Communautaires — Ambatovy

Ambatovy is hiring a Chargé Juridique Relations Communautaires to manage the legal aspects of its community engagement and social investment programs in the Moramanga-Toamasina corridor. This mid-level role bridges legal and community relations, ensuring that Ambatovy's community development commitments are legally sound and that the rights of affected communities are properly addressed.

You will draft and manage community development agreements, handle land compensation matters, support community grievance mechanisms, and ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards on community engagement. The role involves regular travel to mining-affected communities and close collaboration with fokontany leaders and regional authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and manage community development agreements with local fokontany
  • Handle land compensation claims and coordinate with the compensation committee
  • Manage the community grievance mechanism and ensure timely resolution of complaints
  • Ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards on community engagement
  • Support social impact assessments and community consultation processes
  • Coordinate with regional authorities on community development programs
  • Prepare legal documentation for community investment projects
  • Travel regularly to mining-affected communities for engagement activities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in law, social sciences, or community development
  • 3-5 years of experience in community relations, social responsibility, or land law
  • Understanding of IFC Performance Standards and social impact assessment methodologies
  • Experience with land compensation and community grievance mechanisms in Madagascar
  • Fluency in French and Malagasy is mandatory; English proficiency required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Willingness to travel regularly to rural communities in the Moramanga corridor
