Job Description
The Protimonopolný úrad SR (Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic) in Bratislava is recruiting a Competition Law Specialist for its Merger Control Division. The PMÚ is Slovakia's national competition authority responsible for antitrust enforcement, merger review, and state aid coordination.
You will assess merger notifications under the Zákon o ochrane hospodárskej súťaže, conduct Phase I and Phase II reviews, and participate in the European Competition Network (ECN). Slovakia's active automotive and manufacturing sectors generate significant merger control activity requiring sector-specific economic and legal analysis.
Responsibilities
Assess merger notifications and conduct Phase I and Phase II reviews. Draft decisions on merger clearance, conditions, and prohibitions. Analyze competitive effects using market definition and concentration analysis. Coordinate with the European Commission on case referrals and ECN cooperation. Review remedies and commitments proposed by merging parties. Prepare reports for the PMÚ Council on significant merger cases.
Requirements
Slovak law degree (Mgr.) with 2-5 years of experience in competition law or economic regulation. Knowledge of the Zákon o ochrane hospodárskej súťaže and EU Merger Regulation. Understanding of economic analysis in merger control. Slovak citizen. Fluent Slovak and English required.
