Job Description

Constitutional Law Advocate — Pradhan & Associates

Pradhan & Associates seeks a Senior Advocate (अधिवक्ता) specialising in constitutional law and public interest litigation for its New Baneshwor, Kathmandu office. Nepal's Constitution of 2015 — establishing a federal democratic republic with seven provinces — has generated an unprecedented volume of constitutional litigation and federal governance disputes.

The role focuses on writ petitions and constitutional challenges before the Supreme Court (Sarbochcha Adalat), fundamental rights litigation under Part 3 of the Constitution, and advisory on the distribution of powers between federal, provincial, and local governments. Pradhan & Associates' proximity to Singha Durbar and the court complex makes it a natural base for high-profile constitutional practice in Nepal's evolving federal system.

Responsibilities

  • File and argue constitutional writ petitions before the Supreme Court (Sarbochcha Adalat)
  • Advise on fundamental rights issues under Part 3 of the Constitution of Nepal 2015
  • Handle constitutional challenges to federal and provincial legislation
  • Advise government bodies, INGOs, and private clients on constitutional and administrative law
  • Engage with the Nepal Bar Association on judicial independence and legal reform advocacy
  • Publish legal opinions and analysis on constitutional developments in Nepal's federal system

Requirements

  • Advocate licensed by the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) with minimum 8 years' post-admission experience
  • Deep knowledge of the Constitution of Nepal 2015, including fundamental rights, federal structure, and judicial provisions
  • Extensive experience with writ petitions and constitutional challenges before the Supreme Court
  • Understanding of administrative law and the distribution of powers in Nepal's federal system
  • Track record in public interest litigation and human rights advocacy
  • LL.B. and LL.M. from recognised institutions; constitutional law specialisation required
  • Strong reputation in the Supreme Court Bar and Nepali legal community
