Job Description

Rettur — Adalsteinsson & Partners seeks a Criminal Defence Lawyer for its Akureyri office to represent clients in criminal proceedings across North Iceland. You will handle cases ranging from financial crimes and drug offences to violent crime and traffic violations before the District Court and Supreme Court.

Responsibilities

Represent clients in criminal investigations, pre-trial hearings, and court proceedings. Prepare defence strategies, witness examinations, and legal submissions. Handle appeals to the National Court and Supreme Court. Advise clients on their rights during police interrogations and detention.

Requirements

Cand.Jur. degree with Icelandic bar admission. 3-6 years of criminal defence experience in Icelandic courts. Experience with legal aid cases and public defender appointments. Fluent in Icelandic; English proficiency beneficial.
