Executive Avocat – EU Competition (Partner Track)

Linklaters' Brussels office in the European Quarter near the Schuman roundabout is seeking an Executive-level Avocat on the partner track for its premier EU Competition practice.

This is a leadership role for a seasoned competition lawyer who will manage the most significant EU merger control proceedings, lead cartel defence teams in European Commission investigations, and develop the firm's Brussels client base. You will have direct access to DG Competition leadership and represent clients at the highest levels of EU competition enforcement.

What You Will Do

• Lead the most complex EU merger control Phase II proceedings and remedies negotiations
• Manage high-profile cartel investigations and represent clients in oral hearings before the European Commission
• Develop and execute business plans for practice growth in Brussels
• Represent the firm in EU policy consultations and competition bar associations
• Mentor and develop the next generation of EU competition lawyers

• Lead strategic EU competition mandates and manage key client relationships
• Represent clients in the highest-profile European Commission proceedings
• Develop and implement business plans for the Brussels competition practice
• Lead knowledge management, thought leadership, and external publications
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top competition law talent

• Admission to the Belgian Bar or equivalent senior EU qualification
• Master in Law; LL.M. or PhD in EU Competition Law preferred
• 12-18 years of EU competition law experience at a top-tier firm
• Exceptional track record in European Commission merger and cartel proceedings
• Recognized reputation in the Brussels competition law community
• Fluent in English, French, and/or Dutch; additional EU languages are an advantage
• Strong business development track record and established client relationships
