Head of Legal

The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) is seeking a Head of Legal to lead its Legal Division at the bank's headquarters in the Diplomatic Area, Manama. You will oversee all legal matters for the bank, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Legal Division and manage a team of in-house lawyers and paralegals
• Advise the Board of Directors and Executive Management on legal and governance matters
• Oversee compliance with CBB banking regulations and Bahrain Commercial Companies Law
• Manage external counsel relationships for litigation and complex transactions
• Review and approve all significant commercial agreements and facility documentation

• Set strategy and budget for the Legal Division
• Report to the CEO and Board on legal risk and compliance
• Oversee regulatory filings with the CBB, Bahrain Bourse, and MOIC
• Represent NBB in key stakeholder engagements and industry forums

• LLB from a recognised university; LLM in Banking or Corporate Law preferred
• Licensed by the Bahrain Bar Society
• 10+ years post-qualification experience, with 5+ years in banking legal roles
• Bilingual in Arabic and English
• Proven experience managing legal teams in a regulated financial institution
