Job Description

International Arbitration Associate — Pekin Bayar Mizrahi, Istanbul

Pekin Bayar Mizrahi (PBM) is seeking an International Arbitration Associate to join its dispute resolution team in Levent, Istanbul. The role involves representing clients in ICC, ICSID, LCIA, and Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC) proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in international commercial arbitration under ICC, LCIA, and ISTAC rules
  • Handle investment treaty arbitration proceedings under ICSID and UNCITRAL rules
  • Draft statements of claim, statements of defense, witness statements, and post-hearing briefs
  • Conduct legal research on Turkish arbitration law (International Arbitration Law No. 4686) and comparative arbitration jurisprudence
  • Advise on enforcement and annulment of arbitral awards under the New York Convention and Turkish law
  • Support construction arbitration and energy dispute cases arising from major Turkish infrastructure projects
  • Represent Turkish state entities and private companies in investor-state disputes

Requirements

  • Active avukat license; dual qualification (Turkish + common law jurisdiction) is a significant advantage
  • 3-7 years of international arbitration experience
  • Knowledge of International Arbitration Law No. 4686, Turkish Code of Civil Procedure, and major arbitral institution rules
  • Experience with ICC, LCIA, ICSID, or ISTAC proceedings
  • LLB from a top Turkish law faculty; LLM in international arbitration or dispute resolution from a UK/US/Swiss university
  • Fluent Turkish and English; French is an advantage for ICC proceedings
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and oral advocacy skills
