Intellectual Property & Technology Associate

Dentons & Co (Al Shuaili) is seeking an IP & Technology Associate for its Al Khuwair office in Muscat. This role involves advising on intellectual property protection, technology licensing, and digital economy regulations as Oman implements its Innovation and Digital Economy strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on trademark, patent, and design registrations with the Oman Intellectual Property Department (Ministry of Commerce)
• Draft and negotiate technology licensing, SaaS, and software development agreements
• Advise on Oman's e-Transactions Law and cybercrime legislation
• Handle IP enforcement matters including customs recordal and counterfeit goods seizures
• Advise startups and tech companies in the Oman Technology Fund ecosystem on IP protection

Requirements

• LLB from a recognised university; specialisation in IP, Technology, or Cyber Law preferred
• 3-5 years PQE in IP, technology transactions, or data law
• Knowledge of Oman IP legislation, Paris Convention, and TRIPS obligations
• Familiarity with Oman's digital transformation strategy and tech regulatory landscape
• Fluent English; Arabic an advantage
