Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is defined as performing the following: 1) providing legal and administrative support to one or more attorneys, including examining, preparing, editing, cite-checking, and processing legal documents, tracking cases, and managing discovery; 2) using legal databases and software such as CM/ECF, CaseView, NetDocuments, and/or Everlaw; 3) assisting attorneys with case preparation, including items such as subpoenas, exhibits, information requests, pleadings, and correspondence; 4) conducting factual legal research in legal and non-legal databases; 5) receiving visitors and telephone calls; and 6) establishing and maintaining a variety of files and logs. OR Education: A Master's, LL.B., J.D., Ph.D., or equivalent graduate degree in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law, Information Technology); or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree that is related to the position and demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Transcripts are required. OR Combining Education and Experience: A combination of specialized experience as described in A and graduate education described in B which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. (Please note: Only education in excess of 1 full year is creditable.) To calculate your percentage of education, first determine the total number of hours that exceed 18 semester hours or your school's definition of one full year of study. Then divide the total number of your excess semester hours by 18 or your school's definition of one year of study. To calculate your percentage of qualifying experience, divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by 12. Now, add the two percentages together. The sum of the percentages must equal at least 100%. Transcripts are required.
