Legal and Policy Researcher — Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business
MCRB is seeking a Legal and Policy Researcher to join our team in Yangon. You will conduct sector-wide human rights impact assessments, analyze Myanmar's business and human rights legal framework, and develop policy recommendations for responsible investment.
This role involves researching compliance with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, analyzing the Environmental Conservation Rules 2014 and EIA Procedure 2015, and engaging with stakeholders across government, civil society, and the private sector. You will also contribute to MCRB's publications on labor rights, land rights, and corporate accountability in Myanmar.
Responsibilities
- Conduct sector-wide human rights impact assessments
- Analyze Myanmar business and human rights legislation and policy
- Develop policy recommendations and briefing papers
- Engage with government, civil society, and private sector stakeholders
- Contribute to MCRB publications and knowledge products
- Present research findings at conferences and stakeholder workshops
Requirements
- Law degree or postgraduate qualification in human rights, development, or public policy
- 2-4 years of research experience in law, human rights, or development
- Knowledge of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
- Understanding of Myanmar's legal and regulatory framework
- Strong qualitative research and report writing skills
- Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders
- Fluent in English and Myanmar
