Job Description

Zimplats, one of the world's largest platinum producers and a subsidiary of Impala Platinum Holdings, seeks a Mining Legal Counsel. Based at the Harare head office, you will manage all legal matters relating to mining operations, regulatory compliance, and the company's response to the new Mines and Minerals Bill 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on compliance with the Mines and Minerals Act and the new 2025 Bill
  • Handle mining title applications, renewals, and transfers
  • Manage environmental compliance and EIA requirements
  • Draft and negotiate mining joint ventures, offtake agreements, and supplier contracts
  • Advise on community relations, resettlement, and corporate social responsibility legal frameworks
  • Manage relationships with the Ministry of Mines and Mining Affairs Board

Requirements

  • LLB degree, registered Legal Practitioner
  • 5-8 years experience in mining law, corporate law, or energy/resources law
  • In-depth knowledge of Zimbabwe's mining regulatory framework
  • Experience with environmental impact assessments and community engagement
  • Understanding of the Mines and Minerals Bill 2025 is strongly preferred
