Job Description
Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is seeking a Legal Counsel for its Commercial Banking legal team at RBC Centre, 200 Bay Street, Toronto. You will support the commercial lending business on secured and unsecured credit facilities, syndicated loans, and trade finance transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review commercial loan agreements, credit facilities, and security documentation under the Bank Act and Personal Property Security Act (Ontario)
- Advise on PPSA registrations, priority disputes, and enforcement of security interests across Canadian provinces
- Support syndicated lending transactions and intercreditor arrangements
- Advise on trade finance instruments including letters of credit, guarantees, and documentary collections
- Conduct legal risk assessments for new commercial banking products and services
Requirements
- Called to the Bar in Ontario (LSO member)
- 3-6 years post-call experience in banking, lending, or commercial law
- JD/LLB from a recognized law school
- Strong understanding of PPSA and Bank Act security provisions
- Ability to manage multiple files and work in a fast-paced environment
