Job Description
Clayton Utz is seeking a Senior Associate for its nationally recognised Workplace Relations, Employment & Safety team at 1 Bligh Street in Sydney, near Circular Quay and the Fair Work Commission's Sydney office. You will advise major employers on the Fair Work Act 2009, enterprise bargaining, workplace investigations, and WHS prosecutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on unfair dismissal claims, general protections applications, and enterprise agreement negotiations under the Fair Work Act 2009
- Defend WHS prosecutions under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 in the District Court and Industrial Court
- Conduct and manage workplace investigations into misconduct, harassment, and whistleblower complaints
- Draft employment contracts, restraint of trade clauses, and workplace policies
- Appear before the Fair Work Commission and coordinate with barristers for court proceedings
Requirements
- Admitted as a solicitor in NSW; 5-8 years PQE in employment/WR/WHS law
- Experience with Fair Work Commission proceedings and enterprise bargaining
- Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009 and WHS Act 2011
- Excellent client management and advocacy skills
