Senior Associate — Intellectual Property

Mayora & Mayora, one of Guatemala's most prestigious law firms, is seeking a Senior Associate for its Intellectual Property practice in Guatemala City. You will manage trademark portfolios, patent prosecutions, and IP enforcement actions before the Registro de la Propiedad Intelectual and Guatemalan courts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage trademark and patent prosecution before the Registro de la Propiedad Intelectual
• Handle IP infringement litigation before Guatemalan civil and criminal courts
• Advise on copyright registration and enforcement under the Ley de Derecho de Autor
• Coordinate regional IP portfolio management across Central America
• Draft licensing agreements, franchise agreements, and technology transfer contracts

• Lead the IP prosecution and enforcement practice
• Develop client relationships with multinational brand owners
• Supervise associates on IP matters and portfolio management
• Represent Guatemala in INTA and ASIPI conferences

• Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas y Sociales from a recognised university
• Colegiado activo with the Colegio de Abogados y Notarios de Guatemala
• 6-8 years post-qualification experience in intellectual property law
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Experience with Madrid Protocol filings and PCT applications
