Job Description
The Department of Justice is seeking a Senior Government Counsel for its Legal Policy Division at Justice Place, Central. You will advise on constitutional law, Basic Law interpretation, and international treaty obligations of the Hong Kong SAR, working at the intersection of law and public policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on Hong Kong Basic Law and constitutional matters
- Represent Hong Kong in international treaty negotiations and mutual legal assistance requests
- Review proposed legislation for compliance with the Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance
- Coordinate with the National People's Congress Standing Committee on Basic Law interpretation matters
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister admitted in Hong Kong
- 7-10 years PQE with strong public law or constitutional law background
- Experience in government legal advisory work preferred
