Senior Legal Counsel – Automotive Regulation
Hyundai Motor Company is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel for its Legal Division at 12 Heolleung-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul. You will navigate the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape for electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cells, and autonomous driving technology across Korea, the EU, and North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on Korean Motor Vehicle Management Act compliance, type approval, and vehicle safety certification requirements
- Monitor and advise on EU Battery Regulation, US IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) EV tax credit rules, and Korean subsidy programs
- Draft and review regulatory submissions to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT)
- Manage product liability litigation and recall procedures under Korean Product Liability Act
- Develop compliance frameworks for autonomous vehicle testing and deployment under Korea's emerging AV regulations
Requirements
- Korean 변호사 licence with 6-10 years of regulatory or automotive industry experience
- Knowledge of Korean automotive regulations and international vehicle safety standards (UN-ECE, FMVSS)
- Experience with product liability or regulatory compliance in manufacturing sectors
- Fluency in English; experience working with EU or US regulatory bodies is a strong advantage
