Senior Legal Counsel — Energy & Contracts

PDVSA (Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A.) is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel for its Legal Affairs Division (Consultoría Jurídica) in Caracas. You will advise on upstream and downstream petroleum contracts, joint ventures, and regulatory compliance for Venezuela's state oil company.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate service agreements, joint operating agreements, and technology licensing contracts for PDVSA and its subsidiaries
• Advise on compliance with the Organic Hydrocarbons Law and petroleum fiscal regime
• Handle legal aspects of oil and gas operations in the Orinoco Belt, Lake Maracaibo, and offshore blocks
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Popular Power for Petroleum on regulatory matters
• Manage international arbitration and litigation matters involving PDVSA

• Lead contract negotiations for PDVSA's upstream operations
• Manage PDVSA's portfolio of international legal disputes
• Coordinate with PDVSA subsidiaries on corporate and contractual matters
• Advise senior management on legal risks in petroleum operations

• Law degree (Abogado) from a Venezuelan university; LLM in Energy Law or International Law preferred
• Registered with the Inpreabogado
• 8-12 years post-qualification experience in energy law, oil and gas transactions, or government legal counsel
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Extensive knowledge of the Organic Hydrocarbons Law and Venezuelan petroleum regulatory framework
