Job Description

Senior Legal Counsel - Privacy & Regulatory - Google Ireland

Google Ireland Limited is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join the Privacy and Regulatory team at Google's European headquarters in the Docklands, Dublin. You will advise on data protection, privacy, and regulatory matters across Google's EMEA operations, working closely with the Data Protection Commission as Google's lead EU supervisory authority.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of technology and law, advising on GDPR compliance, AI regulation, the EU Digital Services Act, and Digital Markets Act. You will work alongside world-class lawyers and engineers to shape Google's approach to European regulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on GDPR, ePrivacy, and EU data protection matters
  • Advise product teams on privacy-by-design principles
  • Manage regulatory inquiries and investigations by the DPC and other EU regulators
  • Advise on EU AI Act compliance and emerging technology regulation
  • Support cross-functional teams on EU Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act compliance

Requirements

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister in Ireland or equivalent EU jurisdiction
  • 8+ years PQE in data privacy, technology, or regulatory law
  • Deep expertise in GDPR and EU data protection frameworks
  • Experience with regulatory investigations and enforcement
  • Technology sector experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical product guidance
