Banking Legal Internship — Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB)

The Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB), the largest bank in Mauritius, offers a 12-month paid legal internship in its Legal and Compliance Division at MCB Centre, Port Louis. MCB's internship programme provides structured exposure to banking law — from credit documentation and loan recovery to regulatory compliance and AML/CFT — at the most systemically important bank in the Indian Ocean region.

Interns rotate through MCB's credit documentation, recovery, compliance, and trade finance legal sub-units, gaining practical experience with the Banking Act 2004, Bank of Mauritius guidelines, FIAMLA, and debt recovery proceedings before the Supreme Court. MCB's Port Louis headquarters, in the traditional banking district alongside the Bank of Mauritius and the Supreme Court, provides an immersive banking law training environment.

• Rotate through credit documentation, recovery, compliance, and trade finance legal sub-units
• Review basic loan documentation and security instruments under supervision
• Assist with filing for debt recovery proceedings before the Supreme Court
• Research banking regulatory issues under the Banking Act 2004 and Bank of Mauritius guidelines
• Observe credit committee meetings and compliance review processes
• Prepare summaries and legal research memoranda for the Legal Division

• LL.B. from the University of Mauritius or equivalent recognised institution (final year or graduate)
• Interest in banking and finance law
• Basic knowledge of the Banking Act 2004 and commercial law
• Good academic record with attention to detail
• English and French proficiency required
• Commitment to the full 12-month internship duration
• No prior professional legal experience required
