Chambering Student — Attorney General's Chambers Malaysia
The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) in Putrajaya accepts a limited number of chambering students each year for the mandatory 9-month pupillage period. Chambering at the AGC is one of the most prestigious government legal training opportunities in Malaysia, offering exposure to constitutional law, legislative drafting, criminal prosecution, and government advisory work at the highest level.
What You Will Do
- Rotate through the Advisory Division, Drafting Division, Civil Division, and Prosecution Division during your 9-month chambering period
- Assist in drafting legislation, subsidiary legislation, and government regulations for presentation to Parliament
- Observe and assist in constitutional law cases and government proceedings before the Federal Court
- Assist prosecutors in the Public Prosecutor's Office on criminal matters
- Conduct legal research on Malaysian constitutional law, administrative law, and international law
- Attend the Malaysian Bar Council's chambering programme workshops and examinations
Duration & Important Notes
9 months. Chambering at the AGC is unpaid (no monthly allowance). However, the experience is highly valued by the Malaysian Bar and opens doors to a career in the Judicial and Legal Service. Places are limited and competitive — early application is strongly recommended.

Requirements
- Holder of Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) or equivalent qualifying certificate recognised by the Malaysian Bar Council
- LL.B. from a recognised university; graduates from University of Malaya, UKM, UiTM, or IIUM are encouraged to apply
- Strong academic record with excellent results in constitutional law and public law subjects
- Genuine interest in government legal service and public law
- Excellent English and Bahasa Malaysia skills (both written and spoken)
- Malaysian citizen (mandatory for government chambering)
- Available for the full 9-month chambering period in Putrajaya
