Legal & Compliance Intern — MGA
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), the world's first online gaming regulator, offers a legal and compliance internship at its Ricasoli offices. The MGA regulates Malta's iGaming industry — which contributes approximately 12% of national GDP and employs over 9,000 professionals — making it one of the most significant regulatory bodies in Malta's economy.
The intern will assist the MGA's Legal and Compliance teams with licence processing, compliance monitoring, enforcement case preparation, and regulatory policy research. This internship provides a unique perspective on gaming regulation from within the authority — invaluable experience for anyone pursuing a career in Malta's dominant iGaming legal sector.
Responsibilities
- Assist with processing MGA licence applications and supporting documentation review
- Support compliance monitoring activities and regulatory inspections
- Research gaming regulatory developments internationally and prepare comparative analyses
- Assist with enforcement case preparation and sanctions proceedings documentation
- Draft internal memoranda on responsible gambling and player protection matters
- Support the MGA's policy and regulatory reform initiatives
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in the LL.D. programme at the University of Malta
- Strong interest in gaming regulation and compliance
- Basic understanding of the Gaming Act (Cap. 583) and MGA regulatory framework
- Analytical and detail-oriented with strong writing skills in English
- Maltese language proficiency required
- Available for a minimum 3-month placement
