Legal Department Internship — Nabil Bank (Biratnagar)
Nabil Bank Limited, one of Nepal's premier commercial banks, offers a 6-month paid internship in its Eastern Region Legal Department based in Biratnagar — Nepal's industrial capital and the commercial gateway to Province 1. This internship provides practical banking law exposure outside the Kathmandu Valley, with access to cross-border trade finance and industrial lending operations.
The intern will rotate through credit documentation, recovery, and compliance sub-units at Nabil Bank's Biratnagar operations. You will gain exposure to the Banking and Financial Institution Act 2073, Nepal Rastra Bank directives, and debt recovery procedures before the District Court of Morang — with unique insights into the banking dynamics of Nepal's Terai industrial belt bordering India.
Responsibilities
- Rotate through credit documentation, recovery, and compliance sub-units
- Review basic loan documentation and security instruments under supervision
- Assist with document filing for court proceedings at the District Court of Morang
- Research banking regulatory issues under the Banking and Financial Institution Act 2073
- Observe credit committee meetings and compliance review processes
- Prepare summaries and filing documentation for the legal department
Requirements
- LL.B. student (penultimate or final year) or graduate from a recognised Nepali university
- Interest in banking and finance law
- Basic knowledge of the Banking and Financial Institution Act 2073 and commercial law
- Good academic record with attention to detail
- English and Nepali proficiency required
- Ability to commit to the full 6-month internship period in Biratnagar
- No prior professional legal experience required
