Internship Description
The Banco de Guatemala offers a Legal Internship for outstanding law students interested in central banking, monetary policy, and financial regulation. Based in Guatemala City, you will work with the Legal Department on regulatory research and institutional governance matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Research Junta Monetaria resolutions and Banco de Guatemala regulations
- Assist with drafting legal opinions on monetary and financial policy instruments
- Support the review of financial sector legislation and regulatory proposals
- Compile comparative legal research on Central American central banking frameworks
- Assist with institutional governance and administrative legal matters
Responsibilities
- Support legal analysts on regulatory research projects
- Prepare legal summaries and comparative analyses
- Attend inter-institutional meetings as an observer
- Participate in Banco de Guatemala training and professional development
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas y Sociales at a recognised Guatemalan university
- Top 10% of class or dean's list standing
- Interest in financial regulation and public policy
- Proficiency in Spanish and English
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
