Legal Intern — Commercial & Regulatory — HSBC Malta

HSBC Malta offers a structured legal internship in its Legal department at its Sliema offices. As part of one of the world's largest banking groups, HSBC Malta provides interns with exposure to both domestic Maltese banking law and HSBC Group global legal standards — a dual perspective unavailable at domestic institutions.

The intern will assist with commercial contract review, regulatory correspondence, compliance support, and legal research. The placement combines practical legal skills with exposure to the operational reality of a multinational bank's legal function — excellent preparation for a career in financial services law.

• Assist with reviewing commercial contracts and vendor agreements
• Support regulatory correspondence with the MFSA and other authorities
• Research legal and regulatory questions and prepare memoranda
• Assist with compliance documentation and policy updates
• Support the legal team on product launch legal reviews
• Attend internal meetings and gain exposure to cross-departmental legal advisory

• Currently enrolled in the LL.D. programme at the University of Malta or equivalent
• Interest in banking, financial services, and commercial law
• Basic understanding of the Banking Act (Cap. 371) and Companies Act (Cap. 386)
• Strong English drafting and research skills
• Maltese language proficiency advantageous
• Available for a minimum 3-month placement
