Internship Description

Legal Intern – Competition Policy

The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC / 공정거래위원회) is accepting applications for Legal Interns at its headquarters in Sejong City, South Korea's administrative capital. This government internship offers 법학전문대학원 students hands-on experience in competition law enforcement and policy development.

Program Details

  • Duration: 4-8 weeks (summer session preferred, flexible scheduling available)
  • Compensation: Paid — government intern stipend per Public Service regulations
  • Eligibility: 2nd or 3rd year 법학전문대학원 students interested in competition law and public policy

What You Will Do

  • Assist KFTC investigators with research and analysis for cartel investigations and merger reviews
  • Research comparative competition law developments in the EU, US, Japan, and other jurisdictions
  • Draft policy memoranda on 독점규제 및 공정거래에 관한 법률 (MRFTA) reform proposals
  • Attend KFTC Commissioners' meetings and observe administrative hearing procedures
  • Support the International Cooperation Division on bilateral antitrust cooperation agreements

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Korean 법학전문대학원
  • Coursework or strong interest in competition law, economic law, or regulatory policy
  • English proficiency for international comparative research
  • Korean citizenship required for government internship positions
