Legal Intern – Financial Regulation at KNF

The Komisja Nadzoru Finansowego (KNF) is offering a legal internship in the Regulatory Department at its headquarters on ul. Piękna in Warsaw. This programme provides law students with practical experience in financial market supervision and regulatory compliance.

About the Internship

During your 3-6 month internship, you will support KNF staff in reviewing compliance of supervised entities with Polish and EU financial regulations, including Prawo bankowe, Ustawa o obrocie instrumentami finansowymi, and Ustawa o działalności ubezpieczeniowej i reasekuracyjnej (Insurance Activity Act). Tasks include analysing licence applications, drafting internal opinions, and assisting with regulatory correspondence.

You will gain exposure to the practical application of EU financial regulation (CRD V, MiFID II, Solvency II) in the Polish context and understand how financial supervision works at one of Europe's integrated financial regulators. This internship is an excellent foundation for careers in banking law, capital markets, or financial regulation.

Duration & Compensation

This is a paid internship lasting 3-6 months. Start dates: rolling admissions throughout the year. Government internship rates apply. Part-time arrangements available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with review and analysis of licence applications from financial institutions
  • Support drafting of internal legal opinions on regulatory compliance matters
  • Conduct legal research on Polish and EU financial regulations
  • Assist with preparation of supervisory correspondence and regulatory measures
  • Monitor legislative developments in financial regulation
  • Attend KNF internal training sessions on supervisory methodology

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in 4th or 5th year of magister prawa or magister ekonomii studies
  • Interest in financial law, banking regulation, or capital markets
  • Basic knowledge of Prawo bankowe or Ustawa o obrocie instrumentami finansowymi
  • Good analytical and research skills
  • Fluent Polish; good English for EU regulatory documents
  • Available for minimum 3 months
