Legal Internship Programme — Nepal Rastra Bank

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Nepal's central bank, operates a competitive Legal Internship Programme from its headquarters in Baluwatar, Kathmandu. This unpaid 6-month internship provides unparalleled exposure to financial regulation, monetary policy, and banking supervision at the apex of Nepal's financial regulatory architecture.

Interns are placed in the Legal Division, working alongside NRB legal officers on banking supervision, foreign exchange regulation under the Foreign Exchange (Regulation) Act 2019, and financial sector enforcement. The programme offers access to the highest levels of Nepal's financial regulatory infrastructure, including exposure to the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2058, the Banking and Financial Institution Act 2073, and international monetary cooperation frameworks with IMF, World Bank, and BIS.

• Assist legal officers with research on banking supervision and financial regulation matters
• Review foreign exchange applications and compliance documentation
• Research regulatory issues under the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2058 and Banking and Financial Institution Act 2073
• Attend internal Legal Division meetings and training sessions
• Observe enforcement proceedings and regulatory examinations
• Prepare research memoranda on international central banking legal developments

• LL.B. from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, or equivalent (graduate)
• Strong academic record in banking law, constitutional law, and administrative law
• Interest in financial regulation, central banking, and public policy
• Understanding of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2058 and Banking and Financial Institution Act 2073
• English and Nepali proficiency required
• Successful completion of the NRB internship selection process
• Commitment to the full 6-month internship duration
