Stage en Droit de l'Environnement — Maralex Legal
Maralex Legal in Toamasina offers a paid stage in environmental law for law students passionate about environmental protection and sustainability. This 4-month stage provides unique exposure to environmental legal practice in one of the world's most biodiverse countries. You will assist the firm's environmental law team with EIA reviews, environmental permit applications, and compliance monitoring for mining and agribusiness clients near the Ambatovy corridor.
This stage includes field visits to mining sites and protected areas, offering a practical understanding of how environmental law operates on the ground in Madagascar. Accommodation assistance is available for stagiaires relocating to Toamasina.
Responsibilities
- Assist with environmental impact assessment (EIA) reviews and analysis
- Support environmental permit applications to the ONE
- Conduct research on environmental regulations and compliance requirements
- Participate in field visits to mining sites and protected areas
- Draft memoranda on environmental law developments
- Assist with community consultation documentation
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a law program with focus on environmental or natural resources law
- Strong interest in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, or sustainability
- Knowledge of Madagascar's environmental legislation is a plus
- Fluency in French and Malagasy; English is an advantage
- Willingness to travel to field sites near Moramanga and Toamasina
- Available for a 4-month full-time commitment
