Summer Clerk — Disputes

Bell Gully invites applications for its paid Summer Clerkship in the Disputes group at Level 14, Deloitte Centre, 1 Queen Street, Auckland. Bell Gully's summer programme offers 10-12 weeks of hands-on experience in one of New Zealand's top dispute resolution practices, working on commercial litigation, regulatory investigations, and arbitration matters.

Programme Details

• Duration: 10-12 weeks (November 2026 - February 2027)
• Compensation: Paid — approximately NZ$1,000-1,200/week
• Eligibility: 2nd or 3rd year LLB students at a New Zealand university
• Application Period: March - July 2026

What You Will Do

• Assist with research memoranda on points of law for High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings
• Prepare chronologies, witness summaries, and document reviews for trial preparation
• Attend court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations with senior litigators
• Participate in Bell Gully's social programme and networking events

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of LLB at a New Zealand university
• Strong academic record (B+ average or above)
• Interest in litigation, dispute resolution, or public law
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
