Graduate Law Clerk — Insurance

Lane Neave is seeking a Graduate Law Clerk for its nationally recognised Insurance practice at its Christchurch headquarters. This is a paid 6-month graduate position designed as a pathway to a permanent solicitor role. You will work directly with Lane Neave's insurance team on earthquake claims, coverage disputes, and professional indemnity matters — gaining unparalleled experience in NZ insurance law.

Programme Details

• Duration: 6 months (with view to permanent solicitor role)
• Compensation: Paid — NZ$3,000-3,500/month
• Eligibility: Recent LLB graduates from a New Zealand university who have completed PLSC or equivalent
• Start Date: Flexible

What You Will Do

• Research insurance coverage issues under the Insurance Law Reform Act 1977 and EQC Act 1993
• Assist with drafting submissions, briefs of evidence, and settlement documentation
• Manage discovery and document review on insurance litigation matters
• Attend mediations and court hearings with senior solicitors

Requirements

• LLB from a New Zealand university (graduated within last 18 months)
• Completed or enrolled in PLSC (Professional Legal Studies Course)
• Interest in insurance, litigation, or dispute resolution
• Eligible for admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand
