Position Overview
Internship Description
The European Central Bank offers a 12-month traineeship in its Legal Services directorate in Frankfurt. This prestigious program is designed for recent law graduates from EU member states who wish to gain experience in EU financial law and central banking at one of Europe's most important institutions.
Responsibilities
- Assist legal counsel with research on EU banking regulation and monetary policy law
- Draft legal memoranda and policy papers on ECB legal matters
- Support preparation of ECB legal instruments and supervisory decisions
- Attend meetings of ECB committees and working groups
- Research case law of the CJEU on financial regulation and institutional matters
- Contribute to publications and presentations on EU financial law developments
Requirements
- Law degree (Master level) from an EU member state university, completed within the last 12 months
- Strong academic record with focus on EU law, financial law, or banking regulation
- Knowledge of EU institutional law and the ECB's mandate
- Excellent English (ECB working language); German and other EU languages are a plus
- EU citizenship required
- Duration: 12 months, starting dates throughout the year
- Compensation: Monthly grant provided by the ECB
