Abogado Asociado — Banca y Finanzas (Santiago)

Carey is recruiting a mid-level associate for the Banking & Finance practice group in Santiago. The role involves advising domestic and international banks, multilateral lenders (IFC, CAF, IDB Invest), and corporate borrowers on structured finance, syndicated lending, project finance, and derivatives transactions under Chilean law.

The associate will work closely with Partners on transactions involving regulatory compliance with the Ley General de Bancos (DFL 3 de 1997) and CMF normativa. The Banking & Finance team regularly handles financings exceeding USD 500 million for mining projects, infrastructure concessions, and energy developments.

• Drafting and negotiating loan facility agreements, pagares, and security documentation under Chilean law
• Advising on regulatory compliance with CMF requirements for lending transactions
• Conducting legal due diligence on borrowers, guarantors, and collateral packages (hipotecas, prendas)
• Coordinating with international counsel on cross-border syndicated lending transactions
• Preparing legal opinions and regulatory filings for structured finance and securitisation transactions

• Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas and juramento ante la Corte Suprema
• 4-6 years of experience in banking, finance, or capital markets law
• Strong knowledge of Chilean financial regulation (Ley General de Bancos, Ley 18.045 Ley del Mercado de Valores, CMF normativa)
• Experience drafting facility agreements, security packages, and intercreditor arrangements
• Advanced English proficiency required for cross-border financings
