Advisory Counsel - Office of the Attorney General
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking an Advisory Counsel to join the advisory team at Merrion Street Upper, Dublin. You will provide legal advice to Government Departments and offices on a wide range of legal issues including constitutional law, EU law, and public law. This is a unique opportunity to serve the Irish State in one of its most important legal offices.
The role involves advising on complex constitutional questions, EU legal obligations, and legislative proposals. You will work on matters of national significance, including transposing EU directives and advising on the constitutionality of proposed legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to Government Departments on constitutional and administrative law
- Advise on EU law and the transposition of EU directives into Irish law
- Review and advise on draft legislation and statutory instruments
- Prepare legal opinions on complex public law questions
- Support litigation before the Superior Courts on behalf of the State

Requirements
Requirements
- Qualified barrister called to the Bar of Ireland (King's Inns) or solicitor admitted in Ireland
- 5+ years experience in constitutional, public, or EU law
- Excellent legal research and drafting skills
- Strong understanding of the Irish Constitution (Bunreacht na hEireann)
- Knowledge of EU treaties and legislation
- Commitment to public service
