Associate Attorney — Bank Supervision

The Superintendencia de Bancos (SIB) de Guatemala is recruiting an Associate Attorney for its Bank Supervision Legal Unit in Guatemala City. You will provide legal support for bank examinations, enforcement actions, and the drafting of prudential regulations for Guatemala's financial system.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal support during on-site and off-site bank examinations
• Draft enforcement orders, sanctions, and corrective measures for supervised entities
• Analyse compliance with the Ley de Bancos y Grupos Financieros and SIB normativa
• Review applications for new banking licences, branch openings, and mergers
• Draft regulatory circulars and supervisory guidance documents

• Manage a caseload of supervisory legal matters
• Attend bank examination meetings as legal representative
• Draft regulatory responses to industry consultations
• Coordinate with the Banco de Guatemala and Junta Monetaria on regulatory matters

• Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas y Sociales from a recognised university
• Colegiado activo with the Colegio de Abogados y Notarios de Guatemala
• 3-5 years experience in banking regulation or financial law
• Fluent in Spanish; English proficiency preferred
• Knowledge of Basel III framework and SIB prudential regulations
