Associate — Intellectual Property

Tinoco, Travieso, Planchart & Núñez seeks an Associate for its Intellectual Property practice in Caracas. You will handle trademark and patent registrations, IP enforcement, and technology licensing matters before SAPI (Servicio Autónomo de la Propiedad Intelectual) and Venezuelan courts.

Key Responsibilities

• File and prosecute trademark, patent, and industrial design applications before SAPI
• Draft licensing agreements, technology transfer contracts, and franchise documentation
• Handle IP enforcement actions including opposition proceedings and cancellation actions
• Advise on copyright protection under the Venezuelan Copyright Law (Ley sobre el Derecho de Autor)
• Represent clients in IP litigation before Venezuelan civil and commercial courts

• Manage a portfolio of trademark and patent prosecution matters
• Conduct IP due diligence for corporate transactions
• Monitor IP infringement and coordinate enforcement strategies
• Prepare IP portfolio reports and renewal schedules for clients

• Law degree (Abogado) from a Venezuelan university
• Registered with the Inpreabogado
• 3-5 years post-qualification experience in intellectual property law
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Experience with SAPI filing procedures and Venezuelan IP legislation
