Avocat – International Arbitration
Schellenberg Wittmer Ltd, a leading Swiss law firm on Rue du Rhône in Geneva's financial district, is seeking an experienced Avocat to join its internationally recognized Arbitration practice.
Geneva is one of the world's premier arbitration seats. You will represent sovereign states, multinational corporations, and international organizations in ICC, ICSID, LCIA, and ad hoc arbitration proceedings. The firm's arbitration team is consistently ranked among the top practices globally.
What You Will Do
- Represent clients in complex international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations
- Draft memorials, witness statements, and expert reports
- Conduct advocacy at oral hearings before international arbitral tribunals
- Advise on enforcement and annulment proceedings before the Swiss Federal Tribunal under Chapter 12 PILA
- Manage relationships with arbitral institutions including ICC in Paris and ICSID in Washington
Responsibilities
- Lead arbitration proceedings from filing through to award enforcement
- Draft written submissions and manage document production
- Prepare witnesses and experts for hearings
- Advise on arbitration-related court proceedings in Switzerland
- Contribute to the firm's arbitration publications and thought leadership
Requirements
- Brevet d'avocat (Geneva Bar) or Swiss Anwaltspatent required
- MLaw or equivalent; LL.M. in International Arbitration or International Law strongly preferred
- 6-10 years of experience in international arbitration
- Proven track record of advocacy in ICC, ICSID, or LCIA proceedings
- Fluent in English and French; German is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of Swiss Private International Law Act (PILA), Chapter 12
