Job Description

The Javna agencija RS za varstvo konkurence (AVK — Slovenian Competition Protection Agency) is seeking a Competition Law Analyst to join our enforcement team in Ljubljana. The AVK is responsible for promoting and protecting competition in the Slovenian market, enforcing the Zakon o preprečevanju omejevanja konkurence (ZPOmK-2, Competition Act), and cooperating with the European Commission and the European Competition Network (ECN).

This role is ideal for an early-career lawyer with a strong interest in competition law and economic regulation. You will assist in investigating potential cartel agreements, abuse of dominance cases, and reviewing merger notifications in key sectors of the Slovenian economy.

Responsibilities

Assist in investigating potential competition law infringements under ZPOmK-2 and EU law. Analyze merger notifications and prepare recommendations for the AVK decision-making body. Research market conditions and prepare economic analysis for competition cases. Draft decisions, commitments, and enforcement orders. Cooperate with the European Commission and national competition authorities through the ECN.

Requirements

Magister prava from a recognized university. 1-3 years of experience in competition law, regulatory affairs, or economic analysis. Knowledge of ZPOmK-2 (Competition Act) and EU competition law (Articles 101-102 TFEU, EU Merger Regulation). Analytical mindset with ability to assess market data. Fluent in Slovenian and English.
