Job Description

Compliance & AML Advocate — Nepal Investment Bank (NIBL)

Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) seeks a Compliance & AML Advocate (अधिवक्ता) for its Legal and Compliance Department at the NIBL building, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu. As one of Nepal's premier commercial banks, NIBL is at the forefront of implementing robust anti-money laundering and compliance frameworks under intensifying regulatory scrutiny.

The Advocate will lead AML/CFT compliance under the Asset (Money) Laundering Prevention Act 2064, implement Nepal Rastra Bank KYC directives, conduct compliance reviews, and handle regulatory examinations. This role is critical as Nepal works to strengthen its FATF compliance framework and meet international anti-money laundering standards — a strategic priority for the country's banking sector.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor AML/CFT compliance under the Asset (Money) Laundering Prevention Act 2064
  • Design and update KYC policies in line with Nepal Rastra Bank directives
  • Conduct compliance reviews and internal investigations
  • Prepare for and manage NRB regulatory examinations and audits
  • Train branch staff on AML/KYC procedures and suspicious transaction reporting
  • Coordinate with the Financial Information Unit (FIU) and external regulators

Requirements

  • Advocate licensed by the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) with 3–6 years' experience in compliance or banking law
  • Knowledge of the Asset (Money) Laundering Prevention Act 2064 and NRB AML/KYC directives
  • Understanding of FATF recommendations and international AML/CFT standards
  • Experience with compliance programme design and implementation
  • Familiarity with the Banking and Financial Institution Act 2073 and NRB regulatory framework
  • LL.B. from a recognised institution; CAMS or compliance certification preferred
  • Strong English and Nepali communication skills
