Job Description

Construction & Infrastructure Lawyer

Eversheds Sutherland's Doha office in West Bay is seeking a Construction & Infrastructure Lawyer to join our award-winning projects practice. Qatar continues to invest heavily in infrastructure under Qatar Vision 2030, and this role offers the opportunity to work on transformative projects including Lusail City developments, Doha Metro extensions, and Qatar Free Zone infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate EPC, design-build, and construction management contracts based on FIDIC conditions
  • Advise on procurement strategies for major infrastructure projects in Doha and Lusail
  • Handle construction dispute resolution through adjudication, mediation, and arbitration before the QICDRC and ICC
  • Review and negotiate subcontract packages, supply agreements, and professional appointment documents
  • Advise on Qatar building regulations and Ashghal (Public Works Authority) requirements
  • Support delay and disruption claims including EOT and prolongation cost assessments

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction advisory mandates from inception through dispute resolution
  • Draft contractor claims and employer responses on delay and disruption matters
  • Represent clients in arbitration proceedings seated in Doha
  • Advise on Qatar Public Procurement Law and government contracting procedures
  • Mentor junior lawyers in the construction practice group

Requirements

  • 6-10 years PQE in construction and infrastructure law
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts (Red Book, Yellow Book, Silver Book)
  • Experience with construction arbitration under ICC, LCIA, or QICDRC rules
  • Familiarity with Qatar construction regulations and Ashghal standards
  • Common law qualification (England & Wales, Australia, or equivalent)
  • Fluent English required; Arabic is beneficial
