Job Description

Energy & LNG Associate

Eversheds Sutherland's Doha office is hiring an Energy & LNG Associate to support our market-leading energy practice. Qatar is the world's leading LNG exporter, and this role involves advising on upstream, midstream, and downstream transactions for the North Field Expansion, the largest LNG project in history, as well as petrochemical and renewable energy projects aligned with Qatar Vision 2030.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate LNG sale and purchase agreements (SPAs), gas transportation agreements, and tolling arrangements
  • Advise on production sharing contracts and joint venture agreements for upstream operations
  • Support EPC contract negotiations for the North Field East and North Field South expansion projects
  • Conduct regulatory analysis under Qatar's Environmental Protection Law (Law No. 30 of 2002)
  • Advise on carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) regulatory frameworks

Location

Based in our West Bay office, with regular interaction with Qatar Energy and major international oil companies operating in Qatar.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior partners on complex energy transactions
  • Draft and review commercial agreements for oil and gas operations
  • Conduct legal research on Qatari energy legislation and regulations
  • Prepare transaction memoranda and client updates on legislative developments
  • Coordinate with external counsel on cross-border energy matters

Requirements

  • 3-6 years PQE in energy, oil and gas, or project finance law
  • Experience with LNG transactions or upstream/midstream matters preferred
  • Knowledge of FIDIC EPC contracts and project finance structures
  • Qualified in a common law or civil law jurisdiction
  • Fluent English essential; Arabic and/or French advantageous
  • Willingness to travel within Qatar for site visits and client meetings
