Job Description
Conveyancing & Real Estate Lawyer at Yusof Halim & Partners
Yusof Halim & Partners is seeking a Conveyancing & Real Estate Lawyer for its Bandar Seri Begawan office. The role involves handling property transactions, land title searches, and real estate advisory under Brunei's Land Code (Chapter 40) and related legislation. The firm's real estate practice serves developers, individual buyers, and institutional clients across Brunei.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle sale and purchase agreements, transfers, and mortgages for residential and commercial properties
- Conduct title searches and due diligence at the Land Department under the Land Code (Chapter 40)
- Advise on strata title matters, common property management, and housing development regulations
- Prepare and stamp transfer instruments and mortgage documentation
- Advise on Islamic property financing structures for BIBD and other Islamic banks
- Handle tenancy agreements, lease renewals, and landlord-tenant disputes
Responsibilities
- Handle conveyancing transactions and real estate advisory
- Conduct property due diligence and title searches
- Advise clients on property law and financing structures
Requirements
- Admitted to practise in Brunei under the Legal Profession Act (Chapter 132)
- 3-6 years of experience in conveyancing, real estate, or property law
- Knowledge of the Land Code (Chapter 40) and stamp duty regulations
- Experience with Islamic property financing is an advantage
- Law degree from UBD, a UK, Australian, or Malaysian university
- Fluent in English and Malay
