Job Description

Criminal Defense Lawyer — Al-Haqiqa Law Firm, Baghdad

Al-Haqiqa Law Firm is seeking a Criminal Defense Lawyer to represent clients in criminal proceedings before Baghdad's criminal courts, including the Central Criminal Court of Iraq. This role involves defending individuals charged with crimes under the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent defendants in criminal trials before Baghdad criminal courts
  • Prepare defense strategies, witness lists, and legal submissions
  • Attend investigative hearings at police stations and investigative courts
  • File appeals before the Federal Court of Cassation criminal chamber
  • Advise clients on their rights under Iraq's Criminal Procedure Code
  • Handle bail applications and detention review proceedings
  • Coordinate with forensic experts and private investigators

  • Arabic fluency; English is a plus
  • Experience with the Central Criminal Court of Iraq is an advantage
