Litigation Lawyer — Al-Haqiqa Law Firm, Baghdad
Al-Haqiqa Law Firm is hiring a litigation lawyer (muhami murafi'at) to handle commercial and civil disputes before Iraqi courts in Baghdad. The successful candidate will represent clients before the Baghdad Court of First Instance, Courts of Appeal, and the Federal Court of Cassation.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in commercial disputes, debt recovery, and contract enforcement cases before Baghdad courts
- Draft legal pleadings, statements of claim, and appellate briefs in Arabic
- Appear before Iraqi courts including the Court of First Instance, Commercial Court, and Court of Appeal
- Handle real estate disputes including property title verification and land registration matters
- Advise on family law matters under Iraq's Personal Status Law No. 188 of 1959
- Manage case files, court calendars, and client communications
- Coordinate with court-appointed experts and judicial investigators
Iraqi Court System
This role offers direct courtroom experience in Iraq's civil law system. You will gain expertise in Iraqi procedural law, evidence rules, and appellate practice within a system influenced by Egyptian and French legal traditions.

Requirements
- Admitted to practice as muhami before Iraqi courts (Iraqi Bar Association membership required)
- 2-5 years of litigation experience in Iraqi courts
- Strong knowledge of Iraqi Civil Code, Commercial Code, and Civil Procedure Code
- Excellent Arabic legal drafting skills
- Experience with real estate, commercial, or family law disputes
- LLB from an accredited Iraqi university (University of Baghdad Faculty of Law, Al-Nahrain University, or equivalent)
- English language skills preferred but not required
