Brunei's evolving employment regulations — including the Employment Order 2009 and the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009 — create strong demand for specialist employment lawyers advising both local employers and international companies with operations in the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on the Employment Order 2009, including contracts of service, termination, retrenchment, and employee benefits
• Handle employment disputes before the Labour Department and the Commissioner of Labour
• Advise on workplace safety and health compliance under the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009
• Draft employment contracts, employee handbooks, and HR policies for corporate clients
• Advise on foreign worker recruitment and immigration matters under Brunei's immigration laws
• Handle wrongful dismissal and unfair termination claims

• Advise employers on compliance with Brunei's employment legislation
• Handle employment disputes and termination matters
• Draft employment documentation and workplace policies

• Admitted to practise in Brunei under the Legal Profession Act (Chapter 132)
• 3-6 years of experience in employment law, labour relations, or HR legal advisory
• Knowledge of the Employment Order 2009 and the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009
• Law degree from UBD, a UK, Australian, or Malaysian university
• Experience advising both employers and employees on workplace matters
• Fluent in English and Malay
