Job Description
Employment & Labour Law Lawyer at Abrahams Davidson & Co
Abrahams Davidson & Co is seeking an Employment & Labour Law Lawyer for its Bandar Seri Begawan office. Brunei's evolving employment regulations — including the Employment Order 2009 and the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009 — create strong demand for specialist employment lawyers advising both local employers and international companies with operations in the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on the Employment Order 2009, including contracts of service, termination, retrenchment, and employee benefits
- Handle employment disputes before the Labour Department and the Commissioner of Labour
- Advise on workplace safety and health compliance under the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009
- Draft employment contracts, employee handbooks, and HR policies for corporate clients
- Advise on foreign worker recruitment and immigration matters under Brunei's immigration laws
- Handle wrongful dismissal and unfair termination claims
Responsibilities
- Advise employers on compliance with Brunei's employment legislation
- Handle employment disputes and termination matters
- Draft employment documentation and workplace policies
Requirements
- Admitted to practise in Brunei under the Legal Profession Act (Chapter 132)
- 3-6 years of experience in employment law, labour relations, or HR legal advisory
- Knowledge of the Employment Order 2009 and the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009
- Law degree from UBD, a UK, Australian, or Malaysian university
- Experience advising both employers and employees on workplace matters
- Fluent in English and Malay
