Energy and Projects Senior Associate — DFDL Myanmar
DFDL Myanmar seeks an experienced Energy and Projects Senior Associate for our Sakura Tower office in Yangon. This is a leading role advising on power project development, oil and gas concessions, and renewable energy investments in Myanmar.
You will work on power purchase agreements with the Electric Power Generation Enterprise (EPGE), negotiate concession agreements for solar and hydropower projects, and advise on environmental compliance under the Environmental Conservation Law 2012 and EIA Procedure 2015. The role also covers upstream oil and gas matters, including production sharing contracts and onshore/offshore block bidding rounds conducted by the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE).
Responsibilities
- Lead advisory on power project development including IPP and BOT structures
- Draft and negotiate power purchase agreements and implementation agreements
- Advise on environmental impact assessments and regulatory approvals
- Support upstream oil and gas transactions including PSC negotiations
- Coordinate with government ministries including MOEE and MONREC
- Mentor junior associates and contribute to business development
Requirements
- Qualified Advocate or international legal qualification
- Minimum 5 years in energy, infrastructure, or project finance law
- Experience with power purchase agreements and concession agreements
- Knowledge of Myanmar's Electricity Law 2014 and Environmental Conservation Law 2012
- Understanding of oil and gas production sharing contracts
- Fluent English; Myanmar language skills highly preferred
- Experience working in Mekong region or frontier markets
