Job Description
Tax and Compliance Associate — DFDL Myanmar
DFDL Myanmar is hiring a Tax and Compliance Associate for our Yangon office. You will advise clients on Myanmar's tax regime including the Income Tax Law, Commercial Tax Law, and Specific Goods Tax Law. This role also involves corporate compliance, anti-corruption advisory under the Anti-Corruption Law 2013, and regulatory filings with the Internal Revenue Department.
The position requires understanding of Myanmar's double taxation agreements, transfer pricing regulations, and tax incentive schemes available under the Myanmar Investment Law 2016 and Special Economic Zone Law 2014.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on Myanmar tax obligations and optimization strategies
- Prepare tax opinion letters and compliance memoranda
- Handle Internal Revenue Department filings and tax assessments
- Advise on anti-corruption compliance programs under the Anti-Corruption Law 2013
- Research double taxation agreements and transfer pricing regulations
- Support due diligence on tax exposures in M&A transactions
Requirements
- LL.B. or relevant qualification from a recognized university
- 2-4 years of tax law or regulatory compliance experience
- Knowledge of Myanmar Income Tax Law and Commercial Tax Law
- Understanding of transfer pricing and international tax treaties
- Experience with IRD filings and tax assessments
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Bilingual in Myanmar and English
