This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Trade Compliance – Export Controls Lead based in the United States.

This is a senior-level compliance leadership role responsible for safeguarding global export activities across a highly technical, international business environment. You will act as a key advisor on U.S. export control regulations while enabling strategic business decisions across R&D, manufacturing, partnerships, and M&A. The role carries broad global scope, with a strong focus on ITAR and EAR compliance within complex operational settings. You will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to embed compliant processes into day-to-day operations. This position combines regulatory expertise with strategic business partnership and risk advisory responsibilities. It is a fully remote role offering high visibility and cross-functional influence across global teams. The work directly supports compliant international trade for critical technologies and applications.

Accountabilities

    • Serve as the subject matter expert on U.S. export controls, providing guidance on compliance strategy and operational execution under EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations.
    • Act as a strategic business partner to senior leaders, supporting decisions related to global footprint, manufacturing, R&D, partnerships, and corporate transactions.
    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve export compliance processes, including screening, classification, licensing, and internal control frameworks.
    • Interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with U.S. and applicable international export laws.
    • Draft, prepare, and submit export documentation including TAA’s, MLA’s, and export license applications.
    • Collaborate with site and functional leaders to embed compliance controls into operational processes and ensure consistent execution globally.
    • Support risk identification, compliance investigations, and corrective actions related to export control matters.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in a compliance, legal, international trade, or related field preferred, with 8+ years of experience in export compliance roles.
      • Deep expertise in U.S. export control regulations, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and related regulatory frameworks.
      • Proven experience in export classification, licensing submissions, and management of controlled technical data and commodities.
      • Strong ability to advise senior leadership with confidence, clarity, and executive presence on complex regulatory matters.
      • Demonstrated capability to translate technical compliance requirements into practical business guidance and operational procedures.
      • Experience working across global, cross-functional environments with strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
      • Prior exposure to compliance investigations and regulatory problem-solving is considered a strong asset.
      • Must meet U.S. export authorization requirements (citizenship, permanent residency, protected status, or applicable government authorization).
      • Benefits

        • Annual salary range: $120,000 – $160,000, with additional bonus and incentive eligibility.
        • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement (401k) plans.
        • Paid time off and programs supporting overall well-being and work-life balance.
        • Fully remote work arrangement with flexibility to work from home.
        • Opportunity to operate in a global, high-impact regulatory environment supporting advanced technologies.
        • Exposure to strategic decision-making across international business operations and corporate development.
        • Inclusive workplace culture with strong emphasis on continuous improvement and professional growth.
