Head of Legal

Qatar National Bank (QNB), the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, is seeking a Head of Legal to lead its Group Legal Division at the QNB headquarters in West Bay, Doha. You will oversee all legal matters for QNB Group, including banking regulation, corporate governance, Islamic finance, and cross-border transactions spanning QNB's operations in over 30 countries.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Group Legal Division and manage a team of in-house lawyers, paralegals, and legal administrators
• Advise the Board of Directors and Group CEO on legal and governance matters
• Oversee compliance with Qatar Central Bank regulations, QFC requirements, and international banking standards
• Manage external counsel relationships for litigation and complex transactions globally
• Supervise legal aspects of QNB's international expansion and subsidiary governance
• Advise on anti-money laundering compliance under Qatar's AML/CFT Law

• Set strategy, budget, and KPIs for the Group Legal Division
• Report to the Group CEO and Board on legal risk, compliance, and governance
• Oversee regulatory filings with QCB, QFMA, and international regulators
• Represent QNB in key stakeholder engagements and banking industry forums
• Drive legal technology and digital transformation within the legal function

• LLB from a recognised university; LLM in Banking Law or Corporate Law preferred
• 15+ years PQE in banking law, with 7+ years in senior legal leadership roles
• Experience managing legal teams in a major financial institution
• Deep knowledge of Qatar Central Bank regulations and international banking standards
• Bilingual in Arabic and English (Arabic essential for Qatar regulatory interaction)
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to advise C-suite executives
