Legal Officer — Trade Finance & Credit

Qatar National Bank is hiring a Legal Officer to join its Trade Finance and Credit Legal team in Doha. Based at QNB's headquarters on the Corniche, you will review and draft trade finance documentation, credit facilities, and security instruments for QNB's corporate and wholesale banking portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and review letters of credit, bank guarantees, and documentary collection instruments
• Advise on credit documentation for conventional and Islamic financing products
• Conduct legal due diligence on corporate borrowers, including company searches at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry
• Handle debt recovery proceedings before Qatar's Court of First Instance and Enforcement Department
• Advise on UCP 600 compliance for international trade finance transactions
• Review and negotiate security documents including pledges, mortgages, and assignments under Qatar Civil Code

• Process 30-40 credit files monthly for corporate and trade finance products
• Liaise with the Credit Risk department on legal opinions
• Manage external counsel for debt recovery matters before Qatar courts
• Maintain standard form documentation templates and precedent bank
• Advise on new product legal requirements and regulatory approvals

• LLB from a recognised university
• 3-5 years PQE in banking legal, trade finance, or credit documentation
• Knowledge of Qatar Civil Code (Law No. 22 of 2004) provisions on security interests
• Bilingual in Arabic and English
• Familiarity with ICC UCP 600 and international trade finance standards
• Strong attention to detail and ability to process high volumes of documentation
